Background

LEGAL SPEEDING was founded in October 2001.  The founder, Aaron E. Zimmermann, had always struggled with an addiction to speed. Many speeding tickets were collected on his motorcycles, because he could never see or hear when his radar detector was alerting him.  Picking a name for the company was easy for he had the attitude of, ‘if I don’t get caught it must be legal…legal speeding.’

After nearly 15 years of selling software to Fortune 500 companies, it had become time to leave the comfort and / or insanity of mothership corporate.  Aaron knew he wanted to be around his hobby of motorcycles.  He also knew he wanted to have his own business.  The market had a need for a better motorcycle radar solution so the idea of the Helmet Assisted Radar Detection System or H.A.R.D. was born.  In April of 2003, Motorcycle Consumer News awarded LEGAL SPEEDING the Innovation of the Month for the H.A.R.D. System.  Many positive reviews and comments have been made about the H.A.R.D. System from both magazines and customers.  Please visit the Press and Testimonial pages to view this information.

Throughout the next few years the H.A.R.D. System was improved with updates happening about every year.  More radar-related products were added such as the Adjustable Windscreen Mount, the Radar Cover, and the Radar Box.  In 2003 LEGAL SPEEDING became a fully authorized Escort reseller.

There were also some missteps along the way while growing LEGAL SPEEDING into an internationally known manufacturer. Products like the Moto-Locker, Multi-Lighter, Adjustable Plate Mount, Wireless Brake Light, and the WiGo saw a very brief product life cycle.

In early 2007 a decision was made to broaden the product range and develop products outside the radar market.  In May 2007, while on a three-week ride to Alaska, Aaron came up with the idea for the Park-n-Move.  By December 2007 the Park-n-Move was a reality and it was debuted at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California.  Shortly thereafter, Motorcycle Consumer News awarded LEGAL SPEEDING the Innovation of the Month, February 2008, for the Park-n-Move.  This was the second time LEGAL SPEEDING was honored with this award.  At this time we do not know of any other company that has won the Innovation of the Month award twice.

In 2009, while attending the International Motorcycle Show in Dallas, Aaron and his current Park-n-Move manufacturer, Rod Brakage (owner of Wheeldock), arrived at the next version for the Park-n-Move: the Park-n-Move Cruiser.  The Park-n-Move Cruiser is for motorcycles that only have a side stand and are of the cruiser variety.  Using the technology and experience that Wheeldock had with making the #1 Harley Davidson aftermarket centerstand, the EZ UP Center Stand, the Park-n-Move Cruiser became a reality in less than 90 days!

For 2012, LEGAL SPEEDING has plans for new products and updating some of the existing products.  One of our major themes will be ‘Made in the USA.’  Stay tuned for exciting details.

Returns & Warranty

All products from LEGAL SPEEDING carry a 15-day money back guarantee regarding customer satisfaction.  If you are unhappy with the LEGAL SPEEDING product you purchased in the last 15 days and want to return for a refund, please follow the procedure below:

1. Contact LEGAL SPEEDING via email or phone and inform us that you desire to return a product for refund.
2. We will provide a Return Authorization Number (RAN).  DO NOT return a product for refund without first receiving a RAN from LEGAL SPEEDING.

4. Please note that all returns carry a 15% restocking fee that is deducted from the product refund amount.  Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.  Original outbound shipping costs are not refunded.

Products from LEGAL SPEEDING carry different warranty terms depending on the product type.

All electronic devices (except Escort radar detectors) carry a six-month warranty on manufacturing defects and workmanship.  Should you need to make a warranty claim, please contact LEGAL SPEEDING via email or phone.

All Escort radar detectors and accessories carry the standard manufacturer warranty that is one year. Should you need to make a warranty claim, please contact LEGAL SPEEDING via email or phone.

All Radar Covers, Radar Boxes, and Adjustable Windscreen Mounts carry a six-month warranty on manufacturing defects and workmanship.  Should you need to make a warranty claim, please contact LEGAL SPEEDING via email or phone.

All Park-n-Move products have a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects and workmanship. This includes casters.  Should you need to make a warranty claim, please contact LEGAL SPEEDING via email or phone.
